There are word scrambles and searches, famous quotes, crosswords, and coloring activities on the Folger Shakespeare Library website. Children are able to learn about Shakespeare while they play games and do puzzles. Most of the content on the site could be done individually or as a group, depending on the teacher's preference. This would be a great website to use in a Literature classroom during a Shakespeare unit. I think the main goal of Folger Shakespeare Library is for students to gain an overview of Shakespeare as a person and his works in a fun and interesting way.

KidLit gives children a chance to see other kids' writing published on the internet and inspires them to start writing and submit their own work. You could use this in the classroom as a project for each student to work on by themselves or as a collaborative classroom project. Submissions can be from students all the way up to 12th grade. Using this site, students have a chance to peer edit other students' work and learn form each other. I think the main goal of KidLit is to make writing fun and provide a sense of accomplish for the work they have done.

Storyline Onine is an innovative website featuring real actors reading quality children's picture books aloud. Just by clicking on a book on the left hand side of the screen, you can give your students a break from your voice and have them listen to someone else, maybe an actor that they know. I think the main goal of this site is to teach children that there is more to learning than just what is inside the classroom. It expands their knowledge of what is just infornt of them and allows them to appreciate a variety of stories and a variety of ways in which they are read (i.e., speed, tone, and flexion).

Behindthename.com is an etomology website that could be used as a creative tool in a Language Arts or Reading rooms. When reading a story in which the setting is foreign, the teacher could have students look up the names of the characters in the story using this website and learn about the origin of the names. Additionally, the students could look up their own names or the names of their family members as a fun factor. As a teacher, you could also have students look up other names based on the location of the story and have them change the names of the characters to whatever they choose. This gives them a sense of ownership and responsibily to the story and makes the lesson more interesting. I think the main goal of Behindthename is to education visitors on the historical background of certain names so that they can make furthure connections with what they are researching based on the origins of key persons names.

AAASpell.com is a website that helps studebts in grades 1-8 with their spelling and grammar. The spelling section consists of several parts: spelling a word by adding letters, deleteing letters, reversing letters, unscrambling all the letters, comparing the spelling of two words, and putting the word in alphabetical order. The vocabulary section is divided into lessons. Each lesson consists of ten words. By licking on the lesson, each word is given with its part of speech and multiple meanings. At the bottom of each lesson are activities that could be assigned as homewrk or done in class. I think the main goal of AAASpell is to show kids that learning to spell and understand meaning of words makes reading more enjoyable.

On this site, students can look up specific authors they are studying to learn of their biographies or answer questions based on certain books. Quizzes and crosswords are also available. Additionally, students and teachers can access overviews of literary movements throughout history. I think the main goal of American Literature Sites is to provide a supplimentary source to classroom instruction to make learning a smoother process.
